The results of two pot experiments on the control ot Cyperus rotundus L. have been described and it was found that initial growth of C. rotundus up to 40 days after sowing can be checked to the extent of 53%, 40% and 32% with pre-emergence application of thiobencarb, metolachlor and alachlor, respectively. Pre-emergence herbicides had no significant check on tho regeneration of C. rotundus in the following season. For getting complete control and check on regeneration of this weed, the foliar application of glyphosate at 1.0 kg/ha +0.5% {NH₄)₂SO₄ fertilizer at 4–6 leaf stage of weed gave an excellent control. Addition of (NH ₄)₂SO₄ increased the effectiveness of both glyphosate and 2, 4-D amine salt by 10% and 17.4%, respectively.
