Abstract

Field experiments were conducted to identify suitable herbicides, when applied atone or in combination with manual weeding to control efficacy weeds effectively and to increase rice production under rainfed upland conditions. Mean weed control efficiency ratings of 50.5, 44.4 and 63.4 per cent were recorded with butachlor, benthiocarb and pendimethalin, respectively, when these were applied alone; while with one spbt weedling following the herbicide application at 20 d.a.s., the mean weed control efficiency was of the order of 74.4, 71.2 and 85.8 per ceilt with butachlor, benthiocarb and pendimethalin, respectively. Hand weeded check in comparison with other treatments recorded 80.3 per cent weed control efficiency.
