The persistence of pendimethalin was studied in sandy loam soil at HAU Hisar by using sorghum bioassay. The incubation of pendimethalin upto 80 days at 25°C signficantly decreaseed the root length of sorghum. The root and shoot weight of sorghum due to pen dimethalin at 2 or 4 ppm decreased significantly even upto 240 days of incubation the probit transformed response of pendimethalin indicated the GR50 level at 0 days incubation was only 0.69 ppm as compared to 1.22, 1.89, 2.33, 5.87 and 6.2 ppm for 20, 40, 80, 120 and 240 days of incubation respectively, the slope of the line at 0 days incubation was more acute as compared to other incubation periods. Sixty per cent of pendimethalin was found to degrade in 40 days.
