The investigations on crop-weed competition were carried out at Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi during Kharif 1988 and 1989. The maximum growth and yield were recorded in weed free plot during both the years. However, competition for first 15 days and competition after first 90 days were observed at par with weed free treatment. Crop weed competition from 15–16 DAT was found most critical.
