Abstract

Pot and field experiments were conducted during kharif and rabi in 1990–91 at Bangalore involving screening of herbicides for the control of silverleaf nightshade, in which glyphosate, 2, 4-D sodium salt and ethylester were used in three concentrations each with and without ethophon. Among these 2000 ppm ethophon followed by 2,4-D formulations and glyphosate at 2.0 kg/ha recorded highest weed mortality (84 and 83 per cent, respectively). In the field experiment, 2,4-D formulations gave cent per cc III control upto 60th day and glyphosate gave 87 per cent weed mortali ty at 90th day after spraying.
