A field experiment on different herbicides in fingermillet conducted during kharif seasons of 1990 and 1991 under rainfed conditions revealed that application of 2,4-D Na salt 1.0 kg/ha as post-emergence gave the maximum grain (18.35 q/ha) and straw (90.39 q/ha) yield of fingermillet which was 350.2 per cent higher than un weeded check. The use of 2,4-D Na salt 1.0 kg/ha as post emergence also gave the highest weed control effeciency (87.4 to 89.3%) and monetary returns (Rs.3324.05/ha) as compared to other treatments. The weed population and their dry weight were also minimum in the same treatment.
