Effective of Atrazine on Photosynthesis and Nitrogen Metabolism in Rabi Maize

Abstract

An experiment with Rabi maize (Cv. Deccan-103), with different doses of atrazine under field conditions revealed that lower dose of atrazine had an stimulating effect on leaf area chlorophyl content, photosynthesis, nitrate reductase activity. N uptake arid protein content in maize crop. The application of atrazine at different stages of growth reduced the weed growth and nitrogen uptake culminating towards highest grain yield. The split dose of atrazine was more effective than applied pre-emergence only.
