Abstract

An attempt has been made through the survey of weeds during the years 1990 and 1991 to determine the persistency and severity of problematic weeds under different farming situations of Jabalpur (M P.). Forty-two weed species were identified as most trouble some. They were grouped in six categories viz., weeds morphologically similar to crops, dicot weeds in broad leaf crops, perennial weeds, weeds in water logged fields, parasitic weeds and noxious weeds in fallows or grasslands. The intensity of weeds and difficulties in their control were discussed. This study would provide a ground to formulate the effective approaches for weed control including integrated methods and cooperative efforts.
