Abstract

Significant effective weed control was noted in hand weeding under sowing without killing the weeds, sowing after killing the first or second flush of weeds followed by 1.0kg/ha oxadiazon spray in the plots where sowing was done after killing the fust flush of weeds. Under zero tillage, herbicidal treatments did not control the weeds effectively and yields were at par with weedy check. But where two flushes of weeds were killed, application of fluchloralin and haloxyfo-methyl resulted in negative return due to delay in sowing. The weedy check gave negative return under all tillage conditions.
