Abstract

Field experiments were conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Pattambi during kharlf 1992 and 1993 to formulate an economic weed management strategy for cowpea. Pendimethalin 0.75 kg/ha combined with hand weeding at 35 days after sowing (DAS) recorded the highest weed control efficiency. It reduced weeding cost by 59 per cent and increased the economic returns. Unchecked weed growth reduced the crop yield by 62 per cent as compared to weed free.
