Abstract

Efficacy of two sulfonylurea herbicides viz., chlorimuron ethyl (20 and 40 g/ha) and metsulfuron methyl (3.5 and 4.5 g/ha) was tested aonngwith 2, 4-DEE (1.5 and 2.00 kg/ha), glyphosate (1.0 and 1.5 kg/ha) and atrazine (1.0 and 1.5 kg/ha) against Parthenium hysterophorus Lin non-cropped area at Jabalpur. All the herbicides except atrazine were found quite effective in controlling Parthenium. Chlorimuron ethyl at 20 g/ha and metsulfuron methyl at 3.5 g/ha gave as good control ofParthenium as 2, 4-DEE at 2.0 kg/ha and glyphosate at 1.5 kg/ha. Atrazine though could not kill the Parthenium but considerably reduced the number of (Jowers and seeds per plant.
