Distribution Pattern of Kharif Season Weeds in U. P. Hills
Abstract
The phyto-sociological weed survey conducted in Garbwal and Kumaon divisions of U. P. hills during 1989 and 1990 revealed that Cyperus rotundus bad maximum frequency invalley (72.73%), mid hill south aspect (76.36%) and mid hill north aspect (73.33%). While Galinsoga parviflora was most frequent (65.22%) in high hills. The frequency of C. rotundus was also highest in almost all the crops. Similarly, the distribution of C. rotundus was highest in valley (37.13%) and mid hill north aspect (24.30%). Oxalis latifolia, however, recorded highest distribution in mid hill south aspect (24.35%) and high hills (33.64%). The distribution of O. latifolia was also highest in most of the crops. The density/m2 and relative dominance (%) were highest of O. latifolia weed in almost all the agroecological situations and in most of the crops.
