Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar during the winter seasons of 1990–91 and 1991–92 to study the effect of various herbicides (clopyralid, fluroxypyr, tribenuron and 2, 4-D) alone and in combination with isoproturon, band hoeing, weedy and weed free checks on the nutrients removal by wheat and associated weeds. In undisturbed environment of weedy check, the weeds depleted 58.1, 14.3 and 50.1 kg/ha nitrogen, phosphorus and potasssium, respectively as against 23.5, 5.5 and 24.6 kg/ha in hand hoeing and 28.7, 6.6 and 29.7 kg/ha in herbicides applied. The uptake of nutrients by wheat was higher and by weeds was lower when herbicides were mixed with isoproturon as compared to single herbicides at the same dose.
