Abstract

Field experiments were conducted at Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi during kharif seasons of 1991 and 1992 to study the effect of sequential application of herbicides on relative composition of weed flora, dry matter production, micronutrient (Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu) uptake by transplanted rice and associated weeds. Resulls indicated that sequential treatments involving 2,4-DEE were more effective in reducing sedges and broad-leaved weeds as well as grass weeds other than Cynodon dactylon as compared to alone application of butachlor, anilofos, cinmethylin and pretilachlor. Further, Fe, Zo, Mn and Cu depletion by weeds was minimum and uptake by aop was maximum with the application of anilofos 0.4 kg/ha followed by 2,4-DEE 1.0 kg/ha which was at par with hand weeding twice.
