Abstract

Field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm of Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh) during rainy seasons of 1990 and 1991. Preemergence application of pendimethalin at 1.0 kg/ha or butacblor at 1.5 kg/ha supplemented with one manual weeding at 40 DAS proved most effective to reduce the weed dry weight. Integrated approach of weed management with pre-emergent pendimethalin at 1.0 kg/ha or butacblor at 1.5 kg/ha followed by one manual weeding 40 DAS, post-emergent 2,4-D Na salt at 0.5 kg/ha followed by one manual weeding at 20 DAS were found favourable to enhancegrain yield appreciably over the remainingweed management practices. Unchecked weed growth of weedy plot reduced the crop yield by 68.3 and 71.1% over weed free check in two years, respectively.
