Most dominating weeds of experimental field were Echinochloa colonum and Eleusine indica upto harvest 1, Cynodon dactylon and Cyperus rotundus through out the growing season and Cirsium arvense and Chenopodium album during harvest II. Herbage and essential oil yield s reduced to the extent of 53–56 and 69–71%, respectively, due to uncontrolled weeds. Atrazine at 2.0 kg/ha recorded highest (95%) weed control efficiency. Weed-free and atrazine at 2.0 kg/ha treatments being at par recorded significantly higher herbage and essential oil yields of Java citronella as compared to application of alachlor, butachlor and f1uchloralin.
