Studies conducted at the Experimental Farm of CCSHAU, Hisar revealed that metsulfuron provided 47 to 57 percent control of barnyard grass in 1990 and 27 to 45 percent in 1991. Chlorimuronat 24 g/h aprovided 60 per cent control of barnyard grass. The dry weight of total weeds was significandy lower in the treated plots as compared to untreated plots. However, dry matter reductions were more in butachlor, thiobencarb oranilofos treated plots. The mean paddy yield following the treatment of metsulfuron at 0.008 and chlorimuron at 0.024 kg/ha were 5364 and 5719 kg/ha as compared to 6255 kg/ha in plots treated with anilofos at 0.4 kg/ha.
