Field studies were conducted at Hisar (India) to detennine the critical period of weed control insoybean and the influence of weed interference on soybean oil. Critical period of weed control was found to be 27 to 40 days after sowing (DAS). When weeds were controlled during this period, the yield. Weed free maintenance upto 45 DAS resulted in 95.7 per cent increase in grain yield of soybean over weedy check. Weed interference caused increase in soybean plant height, but decrease idry mauer/plant, branches/plant, pods/plants, seeds/plant, grain yield/plant, oil content, oil yield as well as grain and straw yield.
