The herbicide screening trials were conducted during rainy and winter seasons of 1992 and 1993. Sesamum, soybean, cowpea, gram, pea, tomato, radish and chicory were found tolerant to sethoxydim when applied as pre-emergence and post-emergence. Rice, cowpea, green gram, black gram, soybean, maize, gram and pea were tolerant to oxytlourfen when applied pre-plant incorporation and pre-emergcnce. Pre-emergence application (If oxytluorfen has been found effective for the control of weeds as foxtails, barnyard grass, wrinkle grass, lambs quarters, canary grass, rumex and chicory. Ricc, maize, wheat, sorghum, oat, foxtails, barnyard grass, wrinkle grass and canary grass were found tolerant to clopyralid applied as post-emergence, Soybean, rice, sorghum, maize, wheat, cowpea, pea, foxtails, barnyard grass and wrinkle grass showed tolerance to bentazon, Sesamum, soybean and niger showed tolerance to diuron.
