Abstract

Field experiments were conducted on the experimental area (loamy sand) of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1992–93 and 1993–94 to study the comparative performance of some herbicide treatments for the control of wild oats in wheat. Application of tralkoxydim at 0.35 kg/ha after irrigation (30 days after sowing) produced highest grain yield of 46.3 q/ha (average of two years) and was at par with recommended herbicides i. e. diclofopmethyl during both the years and isoproturon during 1993–94 only. Chlortoluron at 0.75 kg/ha applied after irrigation also proved very effective. Tank mix application of lower dose of diclofopmethyl (0.75 kg) with 0.1% Surf and isoproturon+diclofopmethyl (0.75+0.5) compared very well with diclofopmethyl 1.0 kg/ha.
