A field experiment was conducted for two years (1993–94 and 1994–95) at Kanpur in a predominated Sorghum halepense infested field. Results showed that metribuzin (0.50 kg/ha), oxyfluorfen (0.10 kg/ha), pendimethalin (1.0 kg/ha) as pre-emergence checked the emergence of annual grassy and broad-leaved weeds effectively and fluazifop-p-butyl as post-emegence showed excellent mortality of S. halepense irrespective of the doses tried in pigeonpea+soybean intercropping. Pre-emergence application of pendimethalin (1.25 kg/ha) and metribuzin (0.50 kg/ha) each followed by fluazifop-p-butyl (0.50 kg/ha) at 25-day stage registered 66.42 and 60.51% more pigeonpea yield, respectively, than that obtained under untreated check.
