Chemical Control of Parthenium hysterophorus L. and Other Associated Weeds in Upland Drilled Rice

Abstract

In upland drilled rice Parthenium hysterophorus and associated broad-leaf weeds viz., Alternanthera sessilis and Corchorus olitorius, grasses viz. Echinochloa crusgalli and annual sedges were effectively controlled by pre-emergence application of oxadiazon 1.0. oxyfluorfen 0.37, butachlor 2.0 and pretilachlor 0.75 kg/ha. The efficacy to control P. hysterophorus and broad-leaf weeds was lower under anilofos 0.45 and thiobencarb 3.0 kg/ha. The superimposing of 2, 4-D 1.0 kg/ha as post-emergence at 20 DAS over all above pre-emergence herbicides was effective to control P. hysterophorus and associated broad-leaf weeds and Cyperus rotundus. Oxyfluorfen and oxadiazon as pre-emergence alone were also effective to controlP hysterophorus and other annual broad-leaf weeds and sedges. The yield was higher under hand weeding (3054) followed by oxyfluorfen + 2, 4-D (2416), oxadiazon (2228), thiobencarb + 2, 4-D (2184), oxyfluorfen (2121), anilofos + 2, 4-D (2133) and butachlor + 2, 4-D (2081 kg/ha).
