Abstract

Field experiments Were conducted at Main Research Station, UAS, Bangalore to screen cost effective herbicides in puddled seeded rice without causing any adverse effect on rice plants. Five herbicides were tried at two rates of application during dry (summer) and wet (kharif) season of 1992. Results showed that grain, straw yield and nutrients uptake by rice were higher in butaehlor safener (1.50 kg/ha) and anilofos (0.45 kg/ha) during wet and dry season, respectively, without causing any adverse effect on chlorophyll synthesis of rice plants.
