The field experiment was carried out during the winter seasons of 1993–94 and 1994–95 at National Research Centre for Weed Science, Jabalpur, M. P. The experiment was laid out in randomised block design consisting of 14 treatments. All the herbicides applied in different doses resulted in lower weed dry matter production and weed population/m2 than weedy check. Application of chlor sulfuron plus safener 40 g/ha gave maximum grain yield (62.11 q/ha) followed by chlor sulfuron plus safener 20 g/ha (61.54 q/ha) and chlor sulfuron 40 g/ha (61.41 q/ha).
