The persistence of tribenuron-methyl was studied in the screenhouse at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar by using moongbean bioassay. Growth of moongbean was more in low pH (5.6) soil than in high pH (8.1) soil at all concentrations of tribenuron-methyl and incubation periods. Increase in incubation period from 0 to 120 days resulted in more increment in dry weight of moongbean shoots in low pH soil (55%) as compared to high pH (43%) soils. Half life of tribenuron-methyl was found 24 days in high pH soil as compared to 8 days in low pH soil. After 120 days, 8 and 17% of the herbicide remained in low and high pH soils, respectively.
