Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 1992–93 and 1993–94 at Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur. Application of pendimethalin 0.75 kg+isoproturon 1.0 kg/ha (Pre-em.) being at par with isoproturon 1.5 kg/ha (Post-em.) and hand weeding twice proved to be most effective in control1ing almost all the weed species and hence reducing the total weed dry wcight significantly during both the years of study. Hand weeding twice and pendimethalin 0.75 kg+isoproturon 1.0 kg/ha (Pre-em.) being at par gave significantly higher valucs of almost all the yield attributes and grain yield both of wheat and sarson which ultimately resulted in significantly higher wheat equivalent yield compared with the remaining treatments. Isoproturon 1.5 kg/ha (Post-em.) was the next best treatment in recording higher wheat equivalent yield. Whereas seed yield of sarson at this dose was significantly lowest during both the years because of its toxicity.
