Abstract

To evaluate the performance of rice herbicides in combination with manual weeding in direct seeded puddled rice a field trial was conducted during kharif 1995 and 1996 at CCSHAU Rice Research Station. Kaul. Pretilachlor 1.0 kg/ha in combination with hand weeding reduced weed population and weed dry weight significantly over remaining treatments except butachlor+ hand weeding during both the years. However, hand weeding twice and pretilachlor 0.75 kg/ha + hand weeding also remained statistically similar toit in respect of total weed population. The highest grain yield (41.42 and 49.17 q/ha) was recorded with pretilachlor 1.0 kg/ha in combination with hand weeding during 1995 and 1996. respectively. It was found statistically similar to butachlor 1.5 kg/ha + hand weeding and hand weeding twice during both the years. These proved significantly superior over rest of the treatments.
