Field cxpcrimcht was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, during 1993–94 to 1995–96 aimed at evaluating the effect of crop residue management systems (removal, burning and incorporation) of rice-wheat in relation to the efficacy of applied herhicides to these crops. These studies envisage that statistically similar ricc and wheat grain yields were obtained under various systems of residue managcment with the cxception of 1994–95. Application of herbicides yielded significantly higher than control (unwecded), however, higher dose (isoproturon 1.41 and butachlor 2.25 kg/ha) proved better than normal dose (0.94 and 1.5 kg/ha), respectively. Interaction between residuc managcment systcms and herhicide lreatments indicated that burning or incorporation of crop residuc did not inlluencc the efficacy of applicd herbicides in rice-wheat sequence.
