Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif seasons of 1994 and 1995 at the experimental farm of Department of Agronomy, HPKV, Palampur. Atrazine 1.5 kg/ha (pre-em.) fb, atrazine 0.75 kg/ha (post-em.) being at par with nietolachlor 1.5 kg/ha (pre-em.) lb. atrazine 0.75 kg/ha (post-em.) and alachlor 1.5 kg/ha (pre-em.) fb, atrazine 0.75 kg/ha (postem.) during both the years resulted in significantly lower weed population and dry matter and hence significantly higher maize grain yield compared with the remaining treatments. On an average, grain yield in unweeded check was reduced by 67% over the best treatment of atrazine 1.5 kg/ha (pre.-em.) fb. atrazine 0.75 kg/ha (post-em.).
