Field experiments were conducted during kharif seasons of 1994 and 1995 at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to study the efficacy to different pigeonpea-based intercropping systems in managing weeds. The results revealed that pigeonpea+cowpea intercropping system was most effective in suppressing weeds and increasing pigeonpea yield. Pigeonpea+groundnut was the next best followed by pigeonpea+moong and pigeonpea+soybean. However, pigeonpea+groundnut was the most productive system.
