Abstract

All the weed control treatments resulted in significantly higher grain yield of maize over weedy check due to a significant reduction in the density and dry matter accumulation by weeds. Combination of metolachlor 1.5+atrazine 0.75 kg/ha gave significantly highest grain yield due to a significant reduction in weed density and dry matter accumulation by weeds particularly that of Cyperus spp. Physical weed control treatments were also equally effective in the reduction of density of Cyperus spp., but the grain yield was lower than the best chemical weed control treatments due to early stage weed competition upto the time when physical operations were carried out.
