The herbicide screening trials were conducted during rainy and winter seasons of 1993 and 1994. Rice, sorghum, wheat, oat, tomato, maize, pea and canary grass were tolerant to chlor sulfuron when applied as post-emergence. Rice; sorghum, wheat, oat, maize, linseed, pea, tomato, lentil and canary grass were tolerant to chlor sulfuron plus safener when applied as pre-emergence and post-emergence. Black gram, green gram, wheat, mustard, linseed, lentil, radish, carrot, tomato, sunflower, faba bean and cichory were found tolerant to diciofop-methyl at pre-plant incorporation, pre-emergence and post-emergence. Post-emergence application of lactofen was found tolerant to rice, soybean, wheat, black gram, green gram, oat, maize, pea, faba bean and canary grass, Rice, sorghum, black gram, green gram, oat, wheat, faba bean, pea and tomato showed tolerance of ethoxysulfuron at pre-plant incorporation, pre-emergence and post-emergence.
