Abstract

Field experiments were carried out on soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] during kharif 1995 and 1996 in which the highest weed control efficiency was observed with two hand weedings at 25 and 40 DAS or with application of oxyfluorfen 0.13 kg/ha fb hand weeding (HW) at 30 DAS. Application of herbicides fb HW at 30 DAS increased the weed control efficicncy as compared to that with application of herbicides alone. Significantly higher seed yield was observed with two hand weedings and it was followed by the application of alachlor 10 kg/ha fb HW at 30 DAS. Among the herbicides. application of pendimethalin 1.0 kg/ha or oxyfluorfen 0.13 kg/ha fb HW or lactofen 0.13 kg/ha fb HW at 30 DAS was found to be relatively more effective in controlling weeds.
