Abstract

Pre-emergence application of isoproturon and metribuzin particularly the higher dose (0.75 and 0.4 kg/ha, respectively) proved more effective in controlling weeds and increasing tuber yields. The two cultivars Kufri Badshah and Kufri Bahar did not differ significantly in their effect on the weed growth and tuber yields. Both the varieties interacted significantly with the pre-emergence application of isoproturon, metribuzin and pendimethalin with respect to tuber yield. However, Kufri Badshah recorded the highest yield with metribuzin 0.4 kg/ha and Kufri Bahar with isoproturon 0.75 kg/ha.
