Management of Weeds with Herbicides in Transplanted Rice

A field experiment was carried out at CCSHAU Rice Research Station, Kaul, Haryana during kharif, 1996 and 1997. The average reduction in grain yield was recorded to be 38.5% in unweeded check as compared to hand weeding twice (69.6 q/ha). Hand weeding twice was found equally effective in reducing weed population and dry weight as ethoxysulfuron+anilofos (readymix) during both the years. However, ethoxysulfuron+anilofos (readymix) was significantly better over all the treatments during 1997 in decreasing weed population. Cinmethylin 0.075 was the next best treatment during both the years. Hand weeding twice was found statistically similar to ethoxysulfuron+anilofos mixture, cinmethylin 0.075 kg, butachlor 1.5 kg and anilofos 0.40 kg in increasing grain yield during both the years.
