Field experiments were conducted during winter seasons of 1993–94 and 1995–96 at CCSHAU Regional Research Station, Gurgaon. Application of 2,4–0 at 0.75 kg/ha followed by combination of isoproturan+2, 4–0 at 0.5+0.25 kg/ha provided excellent control of C. album, C. arvense, A. tenuifolius, M. alba and A. arvensis. Population of C. rotundus was not altered by any of the herbicides tried. The response of different treatments on the dry matter of weeds was identical to that of weed population. Similarly, application of 2, 4–0 at 0.75 kg and combination of isoproturan and 2, 4–0 at 0.5+0.25 kg/ha provided yield attributes and consequently seed yield of barley statistically similar to weed free yield and better than one hand weeding during both the seasons.
