Bio-efficacy of isoproturon applied at 0.94, 1.41 and 1.88 kg/ha to control Phalaris minor from wheat sown after complete burning, partial burning, incorporation and removal of rice straw was studied from 1995–96 to 1997–98. Population and dry matter of P. minor was found to be significantly less in rice straw removal plots as compared to all other rice straw management systems particularly during 1995–96 and 1996–97. Incorporation of rice straw at 8 t/ha significantly decreased grain yield of wheat as compared to removal or complete burning treatment during all the three years. Among the herbicide treatments, application of isoproturon at 1.41 and 1.88 kg/ha as well as diclofop-methyl 0.90 kg/ha significantly improved grain yield over the recommended level i. e. 0.94 kg/ha of isoproturon. On an average, isoproturon at 0.94 and 1.88 kg/ha increased grain yield by 37.2 and 50.3% over unweeded control.
