Abstract

A field experiment was conducted for three years to evaluate the efficacy of various methods to control Cynodon dactylon and Cyperus rotundus under non-crop situation and its after effect on summer greengram. Glyphosate @ 2.46 kg/ha controlled C. dactylon and C. rotundus effectively and economically as compared to other treatments. Paraquat @ 0.6 kg/ha as repeat application and ploughing once or twice also reduced dry weight of weeds comparable to weed free condition. Fluazifop failed to exert such an impact. There was no residual phytotoxicity of glyphosate, paraquat and fluazifop on the plant stand of the succeeding greengram crop. All the treatments produced significantly higher yield of greengram over unweeded control though the highest grain (546 kg/ha) and fodder (1367 kg/ha) yields were produced under glyphosate @ 2.46 kg/ha as single spray.
