Abstract

Two pot experiments and a field experiment were conducted to identify the herbicide for the control of Asphodelus tenuifolius. In the first pot experiment, pre-emergence application of atrazine, diuron, isoproturon, oxyfluorfen, metolachlor and pendimethalin each at two doses were studied on the gennination of A. tenuifolius. All herbicides except isoproturon decreased emergence' of A. tenuifolius as compared to control. Second pot experiment with mustard demonstrated better, efficacy of pre-emergence application of oxadiazon at 0.5 kg/ha, oxyflourfen 0.2 kg/ha and alachlor at 1.0 kg/ha. Oxyfluorfen and alachlor initially exhibited toxicity on mustard, but did not affect the seed yield. However, pre-em. application of isoproturon, pendimethalin and oxyfluorfen did not reduce A. tenuifolius infestation in mustard in field conditions. Post-emergence application of diclofop-methyl and fluazifop-butyl was also effective under field situation.
