Field experiments were conducted during the winter seasons of 1998–99 and 1999–2000 in India to test the efficacy of sulfosulfuron applied at different concentrations of surfactants for the control of littleseed canarygrass (Phalaris minor Retz.) and other weeds of wheat. Sulfosulfuron 25 g ha−1 applied with different concentrations of surfactants (0.25 to 1.0%) provided satisfactory control of P. minor, Avena ludoviciana (Dur.) and Chenopodium album (L.). With the increase in the surfactant concentration from 0.25 to 0.5 or 1.0%, grass weed control efficacy of sulfosulfuron increased gradually, irrespective of its application rates. Sulfosulfuron applied 25 g ha−1 with 0.5 or 1.0% concentration of surfactants i. e. MON-59121 (Dimethyl aurylamine oxide) or MON-59123 (Linear alkylbenzene sulfonate) or MON-0818 (Ethoxylated tallowamine) gave economical wheat yields compared to its lower rate and 0.25% concentrations of surfactants.
