Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during winter (rabi) season of 1997–98 to 1999–2000 at Navgaon (Alwar) to assess the comparative performance of different control measures against weeds with special reference to Asphodelus tenuifolius in wheat (Triticum aestivum). Results revealed that stale seedbed significantly improved yield attributes and enhanced grain, straw yield and net returns due to reduction in weed biomass (WCE 51%). Post-em. 2,4-D (amine) at 0.75 kg ha−1 recorded the lowest weed biomass (WCE 91.4%) and the highest yield attributes as well as grain, straw yield and net returns compared with other weed control measures, followed by hand weeding 35 DAS (WCE 80.0%) and a tank mixed 2.4-D (0.375 kg ha−1)+isoproturon (0.50 kg ha−1) (WCE 89.4%).
