Abstract

Field experiment was conducted at Pantnagar to test the efficacy of pre-emergence herbicides in controlling weeds in chamomile crop. Application of oxyfluorfen at 0.4 and 0.6 kg ha−1 and pendimethalin at 1.5 kg ha−1 proved highly effective against the weeds. Dry flower and oil yields of chamomile were found to be significantly higher under weed-free and oxyfluorfen at 0.4kg ha−1 treatments compared to remaining treatments. The economic and safe way to control weeds in chamomile was application of oxyfluorfen at 0.4 kg ha−1 and pendimethalin at 1.5kg ha−1.
