Combination of metsulfuron methyl at 5 g ha−1 with isoproturon at 0.75, 1.00 and 1.25 kg ha−1, combination of metsulfuron methyl at 4 g ha−1 with isoproturon at 1.00 and 1.25 kg ha−1 and metsulfuron methyl alone at 5 g ha−1 were the most effective weed control treatments. ‘Farmers’ practice of removing weeds at near flowering stage for fodder purpose was inferior to all other weed control treatments; however, it was better than weedy check. Metsulfuron methyl at 4 and 5 g ha−1 gave good control of Veronica persica in comparison to grasses and other broadleaf weeds, whereas its combination with isoproturon gave satisfactory control of all the weeds.
