Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 1999 and 2000. Echinochloa colonum, E. crusgalli, Lindernia sp., Ludwigia sp. and Eclipta alba were the dominant weeds. Out of 18 weed control treatments, acetachlor at 150 g ha−1 applied 3 and 8 DAT and ready mixture of anilofos+ethoxysulfuron at 780 g ha−1 provided effective control of weeds and were at par with butachlor at 1500 g ha−1 applied 3 DAT. When averaged over both the years, the maximum grain yield of 7044 kg ha−1 of rice was obtained in weed free plots and minimum of 4907 kg ha−1 in weedy check. The weed competition during whole of the season caused 43 and 44% yield reduction as compared to weed free treatment during first and second years, respectively.
