Abstract

Field experiments were conducted during kharif seasons of 1996 and 1997 to find out the effective dose and time of application of ethoxysulfuron to control broad-leaved weeds and sedges in direct seeded puddled rice. Ethoxysulfuron 30 g/ha resulted in significantly lower population of broad-leaved weeds in sedges and hence lower total weed dry weight which ultimately resulted in significantly higher yield attributes and grain yield of rice over other treatments at both the times of application (15 and 20 DAS). However, ethoxysulfuron 30 g/ha was at par with ethoxysulfuron 20 g/ha (15 DAS) during both the years of study.
