The weed flora associated with puddle-seeded rice during dry season comprised mainly Cyperus difformis, Fimbristylis miliacea, Scirpus articulatus, Sphenochlea zeylanica, Eclipta alba and Ludwigia parvijlora. The herbicides butachlor+safener at 1.0 kg ha−1, ethoxysulfuron at 15 g ha−1 and anilofos+ethoxysulfuron at 25+10 or 37.5+15 g ha−1 were comparable to two hand weedings at 20 and 40 days after sowing in terms of weed control efficiency and grain yield. On an average, unchecked weed competition reduced the grain yield to the tune of 32%.
