Abstract

An investigation on weed management studies in garlic was carried out during rabi seasons of 1998–99, 1999–2000 and 2000–01 at Regional Research Station, Dhaulakuan, Sirmour (H. P.). There were 14 treatments, namely, fluchloralin, oxadiazon, linuron, pendimethalin (each applied at 1.0 and 1.5 kg ha−1), lower dose of each combined with hand weeding (HW) at 65 days after planting (DAP), weeded control (five weedings) and unweeded control (no weeding). It was revealed from the investigation that herbicidal treatments applied at 1.0 kg ha−1+HW 65 DAP gave the best results for maximum weed control (except fluchloralin) and highest garlic bulb yield was recorded in pendimethalin applied at 1.0 kg ha−1+HW at 65 DAP.
