A field experiment was conducted during 1996–99 at Agronomy Farm, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur to find out the most effective treatment for controlling horseweed (Erigeron canadensis L.) in Setaria introduced grasslands. 2, 4-D (Na) at 1.0 kg ha−1 and 2,4-D (EE) at 1.0 kg ha−1 being at par with 2,4-D(Na) at 1.5 kg ha−1 resulted in significant lower weed dry matter accumulation and grass yield as compared to other herbicides. Glyphosate at 1.0 kg ha−1 resulted in the lowest weed dry matter accumulation but because of its high toxicity to the grass, yielded less.
