A phytosociological study was conducted in spring and summer seasons of 2000 with an objective to know floristic diversily and phytosociology of weeds in mulberry fields in cenlral Nepal. A total of 170 weeds (111 dicot species and 53 monocot species) belonging to 42 families were recorded from the mulberry fields of study areas. Among the families, the Poaceae contributed highest number of species (28), followed by the Asteraceae (25 spp.), Cyperaceae (16 spp.), Fabaceae (10 spp.), Scrophulariaceae (9 spp.), Commelinaceae (7 spp.) and Euphorbiaceae and Amaranthaceae (5 spp. each). Based on high coverage and frequency of occurrence, 24 species were found important, of which 19 species were annuals and five were perennials.
