Herbicidal Weed Management in Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.)
Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during winter seasons of 1998–99 and 1999–2000 to evaluate weed control efficacy of pendimethalin, metolachlor, fluchloralin and trifluralin in fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.). Pre-emergence application of pendimethalin at 1.0 kg ha−1 was most effective in controlling weeds which enhanced growth and yield components and resulted in production of higher seed yield (1118 kg ha−1) and net monetary return of Rs. 4210 ha−1 with benefit: cost ratio of 2.46. This treatment was at par with weed free check. Weedy check on an average reduced seed yield by 26.4%.
